Preceding the opening of the 12th session of the Moroccan-Spanish High Level Meeting on February 1-2, 2023 in Rabat, King of Morocco Mohammed VI had a telephone conversation of 30 minutes with Spanish President, Pedro SANCHEZ.

According to a statement released by the Moroccan Royal Office, the King welcomed the evolution, in consultation, trust and mutual respect, of the new phase of the bilateral partnership since the Meeting of April 7, 2022, between the sovereign and the Spanish President, reminding that the commitments contained in the joint statement adopted on that occasion have been substantially implemented.

As stated in the Royal statement, the King of Morocco has invited the Head of the Spanish Government to pay an official visit to Morocco. This visit will be an opportunity to further strengthen bilateral relations, through concrete actions marked by efficiency, and tangible projects in strategic areas of common interest.

Many geopolitical analysts deem that the telephone exchange between the Moroccan King and the Spanish head of government is a significant sign of the success of this High Level Meeting.

They pointed out, furthermore, that this important high level meeting paves the way for the two countries to enter a historic moment of cooperation and excellent bilateral strategic partnership which will certainly be strengthened by the next official visit of SANCHEZ at the invitation of the Moroccan sovereign.

It should be noted that the Spanish Head of government arrived in Rabat 1st of February 2023, accompanied by an important delegation of ministers, and was received by his Moroccan counterpart, Aziz AKHENNOUCH to head together the High Level Meeting Morocco-Spain.
