Alternate Foreign Minister Nikos Xydakis’ meeting with the European Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship, Dimitris Avramopoulos, took place in Brussels today, in a very friendly climate.
Commissioner Avramopoulos briefed the Greek Alternate Foreign Minister, in the wake of the terrorist attacks in Paris, on the security measures that the European Union has already provided for and implemented.
The refugee and migration issues were also the focus of the talks, and the two collocutors agreed that Turkey’s role is pivotal in managing refugee flows.
Moreover, on the occasion of Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’ visit to Turkey, the two men discussed Greece’s role as a factor for stability, security and peace in the region.
