The development of bilateral relations between our country and FYROM started with the signing of the Interim Accord on 13 September 1995, of the memorandum of practical implementation measures of the Interim Accord (13 October 1995) and the memorandum on the mutual establishment of liaison offices in Athens and Skopje (20 October 1995).

Greece’s Liaison Office in Skopje includes a Consular Office, an Economic and Trade Affairs Bureau, a Press & Communication Office, a Police Liaison office, and a Defence Attaché office.

A Consular Economic and Trade Affairs Office has been in operation in Bitola since 2006.


Political Relations

Following the signing of the Interim Accord, political relations between the two countries developed in a satisfactory manner, while economic and trade relations developed at a rapid pace. Greece is among FYROM’s top foreign investors and trade partners.

Since 1995, there have been frequent high-level bilateral meetings between Greece and FYROM on a high political level (Prime Ministers, Deputy Prime Ministers, Foreign Ministers, Defence Ministers).
