Madrid reiterates its constant position on the Moroccan Sahara issue (El Païs)

The most widely read daily in Spain “El Païs” stressed on 24th September that the Spanish government’s position on the Moroccan Sahara issue remains that of April 2022. Thus, confirming Madrid’s broad support for Morocco’s autonomy proposal.The Chief of the Spanish Government, Pedro SANCHEZ, said at the time that his country “considers the Moroccan autonomy initiative, presented in 2007, as the serious, realistic and credible basis for the resolution of the dispute”.
Citing a Spanish government source, the newspaper “El Païs” reported that Pedro Sanchez had also reiterated before the UN General Assembly Spain’s call for a political solution based on compromise, in accordance with the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.
