Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Canada in Greece, Julie Crôteau, together with Warrant Officer, Carl Labrecque, laid a wreath on behalf of Canada at the German War Cemetery near Athens on Sunday, 15 November, to commemorate – in the spirit of reconciliation – all who perished in the Second World War.
Invited by the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, H.E. Mr. Peter Schoof, they were joined by diplomatic colleagues, members of the Greek military, and the local German community.
The German Ambassador also took a moment to express the deep sadness shared by all following the recent terrorist attacks in Paris.
