Diplomatic relations were established in 2004, with the Karzai government. There is no Greek diplomatic mission in Afghanistan. There is parallel accreditation of the Greek Embassy in Pakistan.
Political Relations
Greece has openly declared the importance of improving security conditions (eliminating terrorism), democratisation and economic progress in Afghanistan. It also supports maintaining good neighbourly relations with Iran and Pakistan, emphasizing the need for further strengthening trade and economic relations with the above countries.
