U.S. Senator Marco RUBIO called, in a letter sent on Thursday, September 15th, 2022, to U.S. Secretary of State Anthony BLINKEN, the need to impose sanctions against Algeria for its purchase of Russian weapons, in accordance with the requirements of paragraph 231 of the law « Punishing America’s enemies with 2017 sanctions », which authorizes the US President to impose sanctions on parties involved in major transactions with representatives of the defense or intelligence sector within the government of the Russian Federation.
