Greece has had diplomatic relations with Turkmenistan since 1992. The Greek Embassy in Moscow has parallel accreditation for Turkmenistan.

Greece supports Turkmenistan’s policy of neutrality within the framework of support for all actions promoting stability, security and good neighbourly relations in Central Asia.
Cultural Relations and Greek Community
Professor Sarigiannidis and his team have been carrying out excavations in Gonur Tepe in the Karakum desert since 1972, which brought to light ancient Greek civilization traces that show significant connections with – and contemporary with – the Minoan civilization.
There are a few businessmen of Greek descent active in Turkmenistan. Most of them live in the capital, Ashgabat.
