Mayors of the four surrounding municipalities around the Ellinikon and Palaion Faliro area in the south province of Athens, which operate as refugee hubs, sent an open letter of complaint to the Minister of Immigration Policy, Mr Yannis Mouzalas.
The letter makes reference to prior initial statements of the immigration minister that the Ellinikon area and the tae kwon do stadium in Palio Faliro, would operate only on a temporary basis, as refugee hubs and not for immigrants. The 4 mayors make a plea regarding sanitary and public safety issues in these areas, since these hospitality structures cannot serve the needs of refugees.
In addition, a question is raised regarding the separation between refugees and immigrants as well as the cost for food and hospitality of those in need.
