At the Knossos palace completed her two-day visit to Greece the European Commissioner for Regional Policy, Mrs. Corina Cretu.
”I am ending my visit to Crete with the Knossos Palace, a world-known archaeological site, masterpiece of the Greek and Cretan civilization, which almost 2.5 million from EU funds helped restore.
Our funds contributed to restore and promote numerous archaeological sites and museums all over Greece, to preserve its rich cultural heritage and to create new economic opportunities around it.
I must say I am quite impressed by this site and very proud that our funds helped make it accessible to visitors. After all, Greece’s rich History is also Europe’s History, and it is our collective duty to protect and promote it.”, declared the European Commissioner for Regional Policy, Corina Cretu.
