Cooperation between the two countries through the exchange of support for each other&#8217;s candidacies within international fora has been particularly successful. Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa, can contribute to the consolidation of peace and prosperity in the continent, particularly given its active role within the United Nations and its traditional participation in UN peacekeeping missions. In the European Union, Greece is particular sensitive to issues relating to the African continent owing to its long-standing ties with the region.<br \/>\nLarge Greek-owned companies have been operating in Nigeria for decades. Indeed, Greece has had traditional ties with Nigeria in the field of shipping. A big portion of Nigerian oil and natural gas exports are transferred on Greek-owned ships.
