On his first trip to Cyprus, Ambassador of Norway, Mr. Gjelstad met with amongst others Major General Kristin Lund. Lund is the first woman to command a UN peacekeeping operation. The UN peacekeeping operation in Cyprus UNFICYP was established in 1964 to prevent further conflict between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots.
