U.S. Consul General in Thessaloniki, Rebecca A. Fong, had a candid discussion with a group of young women

When you empower a woman, you elevate her community. This is the core concept behind many of the State Department’s public diplomacy efforts: a ripple effect occurs when we believe in women and invest in their potential.

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, U.S. Consul General in Thessaloniki, Rebecca A. Fong, had a candid discussion on “Women in Tech” fields with an energetic and dynamic group of young women in Thessaloniki, including entrepreneurs, teachers, developers, engineers and robot designers.

By providing women entrepreneurs access to training, mentors, and networks, we support the U.S. goals of advancing women’s efforts to become financially independent through entrepreneurship and utilize their economic strength to improve their communities around the world.
