Greece and Guatemala established diplomatic relations on 2 July 1965. Our country is represented in Guatemala via parallel accreditation of its Embassy in Mexico City. The ambassador of Guatemala to the Vatican has parallel accreditation for Athens.
Political Relations
Greece has firmly supported international initiatives to provide assistance to Guatemala for the country’s democratization and the protection of human rights, and it has also allocated humanitarian aid on several occasions.
The main expression of our bilateral relations is the mutual support of candidacies within international organisations, especially the United Nations.
Bilateral political relations between the two countries are at a very good level. There are a small number of Greek Guatemalans in Guatemala.
